This is what it looks like here in Ely, Minnesota these days. Winter is gone. No more ice on the lakes, no more snow mounds. But spring is just beginning to come to the woods. Saw our first marsh marigold yesterday (usually they are in full bloom). The birch trees are starting to bud out. The temperatures remain - well cold. None of us are committed to getting the fire going in the wood stove though I'm sure we'd all appreciate it once the house was warm with heat and smelled of the delicious sent of wood, burning. We just layer up - blankets too many to count, and clothes upon clothes. The images of spring coming help as we unpack the buildings, clean out the winter dust, and start looking towards our first arrivals here at camp.
More pictures to come.
