There have been a lot of birthdays recently... or so my posts would imply.

This past weekend Mark and I with his twin nieces headed down to my sister Sarah's house for a birthday party.

Micah was turning 6 years old!

The party was a lot of fun but the best part for me came after the cake and ice cream when we had free time to play. Each child received a butterfly net to take home, and the excitement over catching butterflies and other fliers, crawlers and slitherers was high.

Off the kids headed. Next thing we knew, we were meeting a beautiful little salamander. (one of the 25 types here in Ohio.)
After introductions he went right back to his cool damp home under the rocks in the back yard.

What a glorious sight to see the kids exploring - eyes wide open, hands in the dirt and spirits soaring.

No one is too old to explore - and really we're all kids at heart - so get on out there... and have a good time getting to know your world!
