Shanti - Pax - Dohiyi - Shalom - Amani - Pace - Salaam - Peace

n. A state of quiet, calm; repose; public tranquility; freedom from war; concord. (definition according to Webster's)

September 11th has passed once more. 6 years after we (the united states) declared war on Iraq.
I remember the day - the emotions - the chaos - the shock - and the creative response from a friend.
The invitation to create Prayer Flags - a call for peace - on a college campus in the middle of Ohio.
This year I found myself sitting around a peace fire - with 15 other women after paddling on the Mississippi River.
Listening to my (our) Grandmothers share their wisdom.
What beauty.
This same day, Michael arrives back in the united states after spending a year in Iraq -
can't begin to imagine what he saw - what he thinks- and how he has changed because
of this.
And I visit a Japanese Peace Garden in Minneapolis
- the instructions on how to make Peace Cranes there for everyone to see - learn - engraved in steel and stone.

Where is the Peace?
Where IS the Peace?
Where Is The Peace?
