a hike on the secret /blackstone trail

Needing to get my legs and lungs moving, I decided to go for a hike and choice one of my favorite easy to moderate hiking trails near Moose Lake.
As Aubrey and I entered the trail a woman came breathlessly towards us with her two dogs. She stopped and proclaimed that she had just seen the biggest bear she had ever seen and coming right towards her on the trail.
We were excited and intrigued. Would we get a glimpse of this beauty, too?
We reached the point on the trail where the bear was first spotted and spent some time wondering if we should keep on. But the following realization came, "What is the difference between knowing there is a bear around, and not knowing if there is a bear around?" So, we decided to keep going.
We met a lot of flowers along the way, and small groups of humans but no bear. No matter, we were very glad that we hadn't turned back.
The following images are just a few of the flowers we met a long the way...

Columbine Aquilegia canadensis

Wood Anemone Anemone quinquefolia

Jack-in-the-pulpit Arisaema
